My two cents: I believe Terraform is not a one solution fits, and it's particulary well-established and good tool for infrastructure deployment, while it still lacks the capabillities or I should say good developer experience for application deployments.

To countermeasure that, RedHat community has been pushing forward the integration between Ansible and Terraform in the past months, which I believe have the potential to resolve and rule the world of infrastructure + application deployment.
